Albion Online’s Foundations update is now live, changing guild warfare with Fortifications and Siege Banners, adding new Crystal Weapons, and more ways to make guild warfare more rewarding.
Not only has the team changed how territory battles work here, they’ve added a few layers, and you can too, with Fortifications. This new feature lets you establish and upgrade defenses for your territory, like guards, walls, and gates. Adding these defensive options to guard against raiding and conquest also gives smaller guilds better defense against the larger ones. If you have the funds in your guild account, you can upgrade your guard groups right away, but upgrading your walls or gates only go into effect after the next Prime Time ends.
Keep an eye on how much your guild’s PvE activities have enriched your Territory Activity Chest. The value is visible on the map, so active guilds may paint a big target on their territory. if you can successfully defend though, you get to loot everything in the chest after Prime Time ends.
Prime Time is also now optimized across all three Albion servers (with Albion Europe officially opening soon). The number of Prime Times on each server is now six. This means if you are looking for a fight, you should be able to find it. Once the time opens, your walls and gates become vulnerable. How vulnerable they are depends on how well you've upgraded your Fortifications. A siege banner bearer can declare an attack and weaken your defenses, but a defender can attack and even kill the bearer to stave off and end an attack.
While the territory battle shakeup is at the heart of the update, the next three Crystal Weapons are here. The Arctic Staff lets you unleash icicles against enemies. The Phantom Twinblade quarterstaff summons phantoms ahead that slash your enemies. The Crystal Reaper axe offers a new dash ability that also reduces cooldowns on other spells. The update also adds some new Hammer spells, a new Spectator mode, and more improvements.
