Albion Online’s big Horizons update is coming next week, and the latest devtalk and preview covers the new Albion Journal categories (and rewards) on the way.

The latest preview is a brief one, but it does open up some of the options for the Albion Journal, which debuted in the last update, Paths to Glory. The journal is the goal tracking component of the mission system added in that patch, which offers everyone a way to know what they might do next, serves new players as a guide to content, and offers incentives to explore new places and take on challenges (particularly if there are rewards within reach).

There are two new journal categories coming on October 28th with Horizons: Social & Guild and Islands. The Social & Guild category offers tasks that you can complete as a guild member or when partied up. Some of these might be things like killing Crystal Creatures or achieving certain guild season milestones. Other options include things like fighting in a large battle or even castle sieges. Up for grabs for completing goals are things like a Heraldic Guild Banner (at 60% completion) and a new jousting-themed Armored Horse skin in your custom guild colors. At 100% completion, your Heraldic Banner upgrades to an elite golden version.

Separately, Armored Horses also get a new speed buff in the update.

The Islands category is a very open one and there are tasks that are associated with islands, everything from farming, building, cooking, alchemy, and other things you can think of. at 80% completion you unlock a Farmer’s Transport Ox skin. If you hit 80%, you'll get a special farmer straw hat, as the Wardrobe reward. Hit 100% completion and your upgraded elite straw hat will feature a double rainbow. This category is for those who enjoy various aspects of the slower, methodical island life.
