Albion Online’s next major update, Paths to Glory, is coming July 22nd and one of the biggest features of the update is the new progression and reward system, the Albion Journal. The team has released an in-depth look at the new feature.

The Albion Journal will be available for all when the update launches (new players will get access once they complete the tutorial). The journal represents a mission system  and is another way to get people to go out and explore and to engage with a number of different areas and features. Essentially it's also a way to guide new players to all of the content but it offers incentives to explore all over the place and additional more difficult challenge for veterans to earn some new rewards.

The missions are sorted into different categories–PvE, gathering, PvP, economy, and exploration– and each category has subcategories. As you complete missions, more will unlock. The subcategories get an intro mission, which  generally makes you do a particular type of gameplay or  feature.

The Albion Journal missions  can be completed in any order, and even if you haven't unlocked a specific mission, if through your gameplay, you complete the objective, when the mission unlocks in your Journal you won't have to do it again. You just get to claim the reward.

As for those rewards, they include things like silver, dungeon maps, cosmetics, Tomes of Insight, and non-tradable Tomes of Learning. Tomes of Learning  are a new reward type and will give you learning points. If you complete a certain percentage of the missions in  a category, additional rewards like Avatar rings, wardrobe skins, and mount skins are among the offerings.  if you complete all missions in a category, you will be in for an elite wardrobe skin.

Henkys also showed off some of these special rewards in the new devtalk video. For PvE, Features a Direbear skin and a wardrobe emote where you can roll a D6. If you take on economy missions, you can get a wardrobe emote that sees you tossing money at others (beware since you do use your own money, you high roller), and a Mammoth skin That lets you travel around being carried by Black Market guards. Exploration features a bardic theme, and there are a lute and a Swiftclaw mount skin up for grabs. For the PvPers, the rewards focus on dread and might, with a new Direwolf skin and dread helmet.

Over time, expect the missions to change, the number of categories to increase, and more to come in this system.
