Albion Online is expanding, with the Albion East server set to open in a month, on March 20th. The latest dev talk and blog are out, and Game Director Robin Henkys discusses some of what to expect.

The closed beta will last for three weeks, and it’s designed with a short beta guild season built in that will allow for a couple of rewards when the server officially launches, like statues. The beta is built like a fresh start style experience, with a ton of progression bonuses and adjustments like a 66% reduction in resource weight, to make everything faster and smoother.

Testing out the new server requires a Founder’s Pack, so if you do buy one and participate in the closed beta, there will be an Arcanist Vanity Bundle that will unlock when the server launches. This bundle will be accessible on both servers, and will unlock for a limited time exclusive to beta testers before it’s available for general sale.

The Albion East server will open on March 20th to all, with a 5-day Early Access period starting March 15th for Founders.

Playing on both servers will still be possible once the ner Albion East server is live, so you can expect the same model, free to play with premium optional, and servers open to all players. With some concern over the opening of a new server thinning out the population, the continued availability of both servers to players worldwide might help reassure some.

In the dev blog, the focus is on the special beta guild season, with details on the progression bonuses, the changed rules for the short beta session, and of course, rewards. Those unlockable statues that will persist into the Albion East launch? You can unlock up to three of them, for PvE play, gathering, and scoring enough silver by beta’s end. Guild rewards include custom symbols in addition to statues.
