Update 1.0.1.3 for Alan Wake 2 has arrived and with it the hotly anticipated New Game Plus mode as well as a new ‘Final Draft’ ending.
Alan Wake 2 racked up some impressive wins for Best Narrative, Art Direction, and Game Direction at this year’s The Game Awards. It was at the show that game director Kyle Rowley unveiled plans for the now released New Game Plus mode, something players have been asking for since the game’s release in October.
New Game Plus allows players to carry over weapons, charms, and certain stored upgrades. The new update also adds Nightmare Difficulty for players looking to make things even more punishing. In addition to the new features, update 1.0.1.3 improves performance in the PlayStation 5’s Quality mode and deals with a number of lip-syncing issues. Audio issues for players on the Xbox Series X|S will be addressed in an update next year.
Alan Wake 2 is the sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake, which was originally released on the Xbox 360. Developed by Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind games such as Max Payne, Quantum Break, and Control, Alan Wake 2 follows Alan Wake, a novelist attempting to escape his alternate dimension prison by writing a story about an FBI Agent named Saga Anderson.
