Age of Wonders 4 has sold over 250,000 copies since its launch on May 2nd, according to developer Triumph Studios and publisher Paradox Interactive.
The sales figures include pre-orders, both standard and premium editions across all available platforms–PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox Series X|S. In fact, the 250k sales mark was hit within four days of release, meaning that the well-reviewed Age of Wonders 4 is now the fastest-selling title in the series. It is also the first new title in the franchise in nine years.
Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios have worked together on several of the series’ releases, and Paradox CEO Frederik Wester touted their relationship in announcing this milestone. “Longtime Paradox fans have identified a number of ways in which the game draws inspiration from other Paradox titles, but Age of Wonders 4 retains Triumph’s signature style and perfect blend of strategy, role-playing, and fantasy storytelling from start to finish,” he says.
For its part, developer Triumph Studios is celebrating its latest successful release, and also keeping an eye on the many expanded possibilities the community has been taking advantage of. According to Lennart Sas, the studio’s co-founder, “We’re all loving the custom factions our fans are sharing, the clever strategies and guides that are popping up, and the wonderful, kind words we’ve seen in reviews and social media. All of us at Triumph are going to keep supporting Age of Wonders 4 with more content and updates, and we hope you’re ready for it!”
The team has previously announced an expansion on the way, Dragon Dawn, which is set to be released sometime this summer. Starting off a launch with great reviews and faith in the release from the community is certainly a promising start.
