Legacy: Steel & Sorcery had a very successful showing with a demo at Steam Next Fest. Not only was the game one of the most played during the event, demand was high, and Notorious Studios encouraged those interested to sign up for playtest consideration. They've just announced the next alpha playtest, and it's starting next week.
The next test for the PvPvE fantasy extraction title will also run for one week, starting on November 13th and ending on November 20th. Anyone that signed up for alpha before will be able to access the test, and they're still taking signups. There will be a new patch before then, and the devs previewed some of the changes, including additions to The Lodge, one of the core progression systems.
The team also shared some takeaways and stats from the Steam demo, including feedback they got. Players found Legacy a fun and enjoyable experience, and especially liked the combat and class design, in addition to the core experience. About 33% of players mained and created one character class for the whole demo and 26% tried every class. Warrior was the most fun class, according to their surveys, and Priest was the least fun, while also being the most powerful class. Rogue was the least powerful.
Although the overall experience was positive, of course there is room for improvement, especially at this stage of development. Performance and optimization were key things respondents said they should focus on. Notorious says while they optimized and added performance features for the Steam demo, they have more planned. The demo included some unfinished art and areas, but they're working on those too. Mostly, the community wants the team to listen to feedback and create new challenges and appealing rewards.
In the patch before the next playtest, there will also be class balance and tuning, new armor, weapon perks, other adjustments, and even new art and sound.
