If anyone had wondered what had come of Magic to Master, a crowdfunded MMO that was supposed to launch back in February after a few controversies that involved posting, then pulling, fake review snippetsthey later claimed were test placeholders, and initiating a false copyright strike there might be an actual launch date soon. Maybe.

After months of silence and that February window came and went, there’s a new update on Discord by developer Laniatus saying that they have been waiting on the publisher, a company called MetaEngine to deliver some “reports” in order for things to move forward and a real launch date announced. Well, they’ve received the mysterious report and it “indicates that the technical and operational process has been successfully completed and clearly states that the final preparations for PlayM2M are being made”.

This doesn’t actually lead to any new window, if anyone was waiting for one, but with this info, the team does promise some more videos, streams, and setup for a functional game. Skepticism is warranted, since their previous announcement video has gone private, and this delay isn’t really well explained. It could be some language barrier or it could be more material.

Still, they’re now saying that “we aim to share the game's announcement and launch date within the next 10 business days” but it will be done by the publisher. With that, once it is made, they say there will be an early access and a one-month beta before that early access.

We’ll see if it happens.
