AFK Journey has a new login campaign, a new map, and a new season coming. There’s new info on progression, how the team will work their seasons, AFKing and progress, and working to prevent the usual gacha game pitfalls.

The team at Farlight Games has a new update detailing the new season launch schedule and how seasons will work overall. According to the team, they still want to maintain consistency for all players on a server, so once a server is at least 42 days old, a season can begin. If your server was created when the game launched, the new season, Song of Strife, will open for you on May 10th. If your server opened on April 12th, you get access on May 24th.  A season will last four months.

Every server will get a countdown 14 days before the new season starts to let everyone prepare. You will have to reach Resonance level 240 and clear AFK stages 1125  before you can unlock seasonal content. Both the  42 day requirement and the level requirements are intended to give most players a consistent starting point.  In order to get there, the new season update details give some tips.

There is also a dual progression system to look forward to: permanent progression and seasonal progression. Permanent progression is well, permanent, and seasonal progression will be one of your goals within a season, but much of that will be reset when a new one arrives. Magic Charms, used to customize your hero stats,  will reset every season. All resources for seasonal progression systems will be accessible for free. You can remain AFK, or you can play actively for additional rewards, other features, and seasonal content.

With the upcoming new season there will be new quests, new areas with new exploration mechanics and puzzles, and more. After a season is over, all of the story content and the new world content will remain accessible in the Temporal Nexus. You could drop in once in a while and play it all if you want to.

AFK Journey is looking to set things up to be enjoyable for a long time, no matter how you play.
