Activision has announced that they have formed a new studio with the sole focus being a “narrative-based and genre-defining AAA franchise.”
Having just been announced earlier today, we learned that Activision has created Elsewhere Entertainment with a new team in Warsaw, Poland. This team consists of several developers who worked on titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, Destiny, The Last of Us, and more, who are said to all be experts in storytelling.
This newly created studio will have full access to Activision’s resources and tools to utilize for both development and production and will also be looking for more talented individuals to join their team.
As of right now, the details of what the studio will be working on for their first project are unknown, and there aren’t many details about the studio as of yet. We do know that this group of industry giants are hoping to create narrative-based games, at least that is how the announcement reads.
This news is somewhat interesting after Microsoft has been on a spree of layoffs and even shut down one of its companies in Japan. However, this could also mean that more development and production jobs will open up in the near future, giving opportunities where some may have been lost.
