The Sea of Stars team is basking in some of the praise the indie game has received since its release last year, with a new trailer and the announcement of a retail physical edition coming May 10th.

Recently, the Sabotage Studios team has hinted at future DLC to come, looking to offer some ‘weird’ inspired content that could also draw some inspiration from their previous title, The Messenger. New trailer for The turn-based RPG, inspired by classic games from the '90s, was well received worldwide by credits last year and even took the Best Indie Game award at the Game Awards.

The new trailer highlights a number of these accolades, set against a number of scenes from the classic-inspired game. It’s high praise, but the game has been doing well in release and playable as part of both Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra subscription plans. Yet, for those who want to kick up the nostalgia just a little bit more, there will be a physical edition coming, as the trailer confirms.

Released through iam8bit, preorders have opened for the physical edition for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The standard retail edition pre-order comes with a number of bonuses, including a double-sided art poster from concept artist Bryce Kho, a download of the soundtrack with all Day & Night cycle tracks, acoustic pirate band covers and tracks from guest composer Yasunori Mitsuda.

A special Exclusive Edition directly from iam8bit  is coming in Q2, has its own special bonuses. In addition to the soundtrack download and a collectible poster, the nostalgia continues with a retro inspired game manual, character stickers. There will even be a 2 LP vinyl soundtrack released in Q3. These exclusive sets are obviously for the collectors, which is what iam8bit specializes in, particularly with retro and retro-inspired releases.
