Dear fellow Aerynthians,
The patch on Tuesday contained many positive changes to Shadowbane including bug fixes, closed exploits, and several performance optimizations. For the most part this patch was a great step in the right direction. Unfortunately, this patch also introduced a couple of new bugs to the game that have been frustrating for some of our users.
One of the more frustrating bugs caused a heavy influx of lag during large PvE groups and siege combat. In Tuesday's patch we made some improvements to the client that was supposed to speed up rendering during large scale encounters. It seems that these changes were too aggressive so we have scaled them back in a new version of the client which is now available on the patch server. We are currently working on a Macintosh version of this client and it will be included in Wednesday's patch.
Wednesday Patch
On Wednesday we expect to deploy a second small patch that will address the following issues:
· New Macintosh Client
· Barbarian's powers with secondary heal effects are not working, so this will be corrected
· Additional Login server fixes
· Closing down several exploits (more below)
· Correcting the bonus training points issues with characters (more below)
Exploits
We are currently researching all the specific instances of gold and item dupe exploits in the server logs. When our research is complete, we will be strictly enforcing the Shadowbane Terms of Use and the ubi.com Code of Conduct.
Character Corruptions
On Tuesday the patch contained a fix designed to reverse character corruption issues and restore them to their correct state. While this worked for many players, in other cases it corrupted new characters by giving them additional skills and gold. We have been working on a fix for this problem and it will be integrated into Wednesday's patch. Although, you can still play these corrupted characters please be warned that any experience, levels, and training they receive will be rolled back after the weekend.
I will send another update on Monday in an effort to keep everyone up to date.
Have a great weekend,
Erik aka "Yitzhak"
