The developers at Riot Games have announced that the popular ever-growing MOBA League of Legends will be getting a new PVE mode later this year.
This in itself is an interesting concept being brought to the game, as the sole focus has been primarily PvP since the dawn of its creation. With the announcement that the League of Legends MMORPG will be going dark for “several years,” this new announcement gives fans something positive to look forward to.
The team is calling this new mode a Bullet Heaven, which one can only assume is their special take on a bullet hell like Vampire Survivor or Enter the Gungeon. This PVE mode is said to bring hordes of enemies to the battlefield for players to take on alone or in a group, and gives players a break from the norm in League of Legends.
They claim that the reason they chose this form of mode rather than what we have seen previously is because they wanted a whole new experience compared to anything they’ve done before. The new mode will be released alongside their mid-year event, but this is really the only detail released thus far.
The Arena dev team discussed a few of the changes coming to the mode, including increasing the lobby size to 16 players. They also will be giving the item system a major overhaul, as they mention a new unique class of items entirely.
The Prismatic items are meant to \increase the players base stats significantly, with one item boosting stats for every round won. But, this comes at a cost, as losing a match will actually cause the Legend to lose more than they would gain by winning. The team plans on expanding Arena even further in the future once they get a bit of player feedback, but things are still in the air as of now.
