Legendary Entertainment that scored pretty big bucks with the Warcraft movie is taking on another legendary gaming IP with today's announcement that it had scored a deal to bring a live action version of Pokemon to the big screen in 2017. Great Detective Pikachu will star in the movie, a take on the 3DS Japanese game released earlier this year.
The game is focused around a super-intelligent talking Pikachu and his pet human boy; together they fight crime. Despite the game being Japanese-only, the lead character is named Tim Goodman and the live-action teaser for the game featured an non-Japanese actor and setting.
There is no word who will be voice-acting the characters or any further details about the project, but it is likely they will emerge soon.
