A Big Month for Contributions & 'Stricter Standards'

Shroud of the Avatar's Richard Garriott has participated in a brief interview with Polygon to talk about how the game has entered a "blurry state" between Early Access and launch. Though SotA is not quite ready to say "launched", the team is applying launch standards to its player base.

In other words, the bans have begun. According to Garriott, the team has banned only a handful of people so far under this stricter standard. The team most commonly finds players speed hacking, which allows the to jet around the game's world faster than usual.

"We'll just ban you as soon as we find out, which will be very quickly," he said. "You'll no longer be playing this game. Automatic ban, you're out. That's it.

Shroud is steaming along, however, moving into thousands of concurrent users and bringing in revenue through contributions and support from players.

It's a fun, if short, interview, so head to the link above to check it out.

Thanks, BlueTurtle13!

Shroud of the Avatar - Not quite Early Access. Not quite launched.
