It seems like the vast majority of preorders for Cyberpunk 2077 were on PC, according to some statistics from CD Projekt RED via GamesIndustry.biz.
In fact, 59% of preorders were for PC. Some additional stats include 74% of all preorders were digital. This means that there were 4.72 million PC gamers with Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, which beats World of Warcraft’s record last week with Shadowlands as the new fastest-selling PC game.
There wasn’t a clear explanation given for the overwhelming PC ownership, but no doubt some of that can be attributed to the fact that the PC version is pushing some seriously next generation visuals and technology. It may simply be that more people wanted to experience Cyberpunk 2077 that way.
