2K is making a roguelike hero shooter, Project ETHOS, with the aim of blending elements of both genres from developer 31st Union.
The new game, which is hosting its first playtest from today through October 20th, looks to be a mix of a hero shooter and extraction shooter with roguelike elements, according to the Steam listing as well as a preview from IGN. Project ETHOS seems to be propped up on two main modes: Trials and Gauntlet.
Trials seem to be a standard extraction shooter, with the mode sporting PvPvE combat. Players will collect cores and extract them, earning progression and rewards for the next run. Gauntlet, meanwhile, is described as a "head-to-head tournament mode," where players will group in threes to take on other trios, progressing their heroes after each round.
