Brendan Greene has finally revealed the 2018 roadmap for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Players can look forward to "a major content delivery cycle every two months" that includes new maps, emotes and the Experimental Test Server that will allow players to provide feedback on new content much earlier in the development cycle. Each update is designed to "bring changes to specific systems".
Here's what players can look forward to in 2018:
- a 4x4km map that is smaller and designed to create greater player density and faster matches
- an 8x8km map
- new emotes
- new game modes - though they're not yet ready to talk about them
- new vehicles
- achievements
- in-game friends list
- squad voice chat in the main menue
- limb and vehicle bullet penetration
- overhauling TPP and FPP animation systems
- overhaul of the parachute system
- stability, optimization and security improvements
- increased sound detail for vehicles and for player movement
- 3D replay system
- eSports development, though not ready yet
- custom games system
- PUBG Developer Portal for sharing of blogs, patch notes, etc.
