Destiny 2 has achieved a pair of statistical milestones over the week that was. On Friday evening, Bungie confirmed that 1.2M players were taking part in the game concurrently. This includes both XBox One and PlayStation 4 players and at a time when D2 had been in release for a scant three days. Secondly, the number of physical copies of Destiny 2 is down significantly over Destiny 1. According to NeoGAF, D2 has only sold 175k physical editions as compared to 417k for D1.
The latter factoid is interesting in the implication it has for the future of wide distribution of physical editions of games. What impact that PC sales will have on this number either way will remain to be seen, though it is likely that the number of digital downloads will increase.
