On Tuesday, February 5th, the good people at Amazon and Fortyseven invited a group of game enthusiasts to attend an Alpha event to get a glimpse at the progress being made on their New World project. Amazon Game Studios' New World has been shrouded in mystery since it was first announced in late 2016. While the game has been in alpha testing for some time, little information has been forthcoming from the studio. That changes today with an exclusive interview with AGS Studio Head Patrick Gilmore, Game Director Scot Lane and Executive Producer Rich Lawrence. Find out more about this unique MMO in the making.
Amazon has posted a brief note on its Facebook page to let fans know that a fresh round of New World alpha invites is out in the wild. Interested community members are also invited to sign up for the chance to be selected for the alpha as well.
The New World Facebook page has been updated with a pair of screenshots that show off the spooky, misty Weaver's Fen. In one, a three-sided stone face stares out of the mist. In the other, bare trees line a path leading up to stairs ascending a great stone wall.
Italian site MMO.it has sent word of a new interview that editors conducted with a person named "Alphano" who is currently a player in the New World alpha and is willing to break the NDA to speak about his experiences. In it, they ask him about his impressions of the game and, most notably, his impressions of the type of game New World actually is. Up to now, many have viewed Amazon's upcoming (and very secretive) game as a survival title. However, Alphano has a different thought on the subject.
Amazon has released a new in-game video that shows off exploration of Windsward, one of the early New World zones. As the character runs through the map, viewers are treated to a look at the environments and locations that are found in what appears to be a starter zone.
Someone has not only broken the New World NDA, but done so on spectacular fashion with over two hours of in-game footage leaked to...Porn Hub. However, a new 9 minute video from Less than Epic has sorted through the video to provide "First Impressions".
Amazon has released a teeny tiny, but fascinating in-game video from New World. It provides a look at the day / night cycle, environmental effects and sounds and more. In addition, folks are reporting that alpha invites are being sent out. Have you received yours?
Over the last week or so, Amazon has been sending out screenshots to show off the breadth of diversity that players will find in the zones and locations in New World. These include snowy fortresses, bucolic forest streams, hazy mountain vistas and more. According to the New World Twitter, each Saturday will see more screenshots released each Saturday across its social media accounts.
PCGamesN has a nifty preview of New World, the ambitious survival MMO being build by Amazon Game Studios. When New World launches, it will be able to have server hosting for about 500 players, though the goal is to reach 10,000 concurrent players per server that should kick off some amazing territorial wars.
