New Enemies Residing in Chult -

With the next chapter of Neverwinter in the oven, the development team is taking time to introduce players to the new enemies and locations they will find when logging in. The latest developer blog provides some basic detail about some of the enemies that will be encountered in the general Chult area.

Necromancers will provide a significant challenge for players with their ability to partially paralyze. The Yuan-ti will debuff players with fear that causes them to lose control temporarily as well as interrupt any current channeled abilities. Rare monsters will also be present, though how they will affect players remains to be seen.

Let's also not forget about the native fauna -- DINOSAURS! Players will encounter a number of different types of raptors that hunt in packs that can also stalk from distances. In addition, allosaurs, tyrannosaurus rex and other dinosaurs that can take out a player in a single bite are present.

Each tyrannosaur features dynamic powers with lots of movement which should serve to keep every encounter interesting. Unlike standard enemies who essentially use their powers on cooldown, or contemporary bosses who generally have a set rotation; the tyrannosaur is constantly evaluating her move set against the situation, often times moving into position to setup a powerful attack. That’s not to say there is no mastery to be had, quite the contrary, once you’ve carefully studied their behaviors, you should be much more confident facing off against these dangerous beasts.

Read the full blog on the Neverwinter site.

You can also read about how the Tyrannosaurus Rex was animated in this developer blog.
