A new developer diary has appeared on the Neverwinter site that gives the design philosophy and background for the creation of the Strongholds map that will be added to the game in the near future. The map is said to be the largest one that Cryptic has ever created to give players a true feeling of exploration and to allow for PvE experiences within the PvP zone.
The Stronghold map needed to have enough room for guilds to build structures around the map along with PvE adventure zone type gameplay. This meant making very distinct areas that felt different and played into the back story and lore of the surrounding land and Stronghold itself.
