New Industry 'Think Tank' to Tackle Issues Including Loot Boxes

The National Committee for Games Policy is a new organization founded by industry insiders with a two-pronged mission. The first is to provide opportunities to participate as part of a think tank with specific regard to laws and to help inform government policy with "guidance and input from industry leaders". Part of that goal is the collection and analysis of both public and insider information about games in order to determine a "unified political position".

According to press information, the founding the the new group began as an effort "to protect consumers from unscrupulous video game companies by investigating and bringing legal action against those companies that have damaged the public consciousness in some way, whether mental or physical".

The second and much more important arm of the NCGP is our establishment of the video game industry's first, and de facto, self regulatory organization. Independent of the think tank is the NCGP SRO. As an SRO, our purpose is to protect consumers from unscrupulous video game companies by investigating and bringing legal action against those companies that have damaged the public consciousness in some way, whether mental or physical. To do this we’ve enlisted the aid of game developer’s employees as well. By establishing the first video game industry whistleblower center, we’re able to help the video game industry fight things such as overtime pay.

Members include Kenneth Tran (Company of Heroes: Online, Crimecraft), Jack Wegrich (indie games community manager), Riley Worcester (tax professional), Michael Luxion (e-sports journalist, Pokemon the Trading Card Game), Bryan Haskell (project manager ESL), Daniel Doan (Black Shell Games), Jonathan Perez (Multiverse Games) and Tion Bruton (CIRCLE Entertainment).
