Mavericks: Proving Grounds Articles
If you were looking forward to the "1000-player" battle royale, Mavericks: Proving Grounds, bad news. Announced on their website (thanks Eurogamer) was news that the studio, Automation Games, is closing its doors with Mavericks subsequently cancelled.
The Mavericks site has been updated with a new post from the dev team informing the tester community and fans about what they can expect for the next couple of months. Most notably, the devs reveal that January is the final month for technical testing and that the "Core Update" patch will be deployed and that it will showcase "why the game is so different in contrast to other conventional Battle Royales".
The Mavericks site has been updated with a notice to let the community know about The Forge, an upcoming "first version of an ever-evolving game".The Forge will launch on November 29th to a limited number of players. If invited, players will be able to help developers test "key areas of design and shaping the future of the game". This is not beta testing and, in fact, sounds more like a closed alpha.
The Founders' closed event for Mavericks: The Forge has been delayed by over two months according to a new post on the game's official site. The event was to begin on September 20th, but has been pushed to November 29th. Founders will gain access at that time, with a public launch slated to go live several weeks later. The post goes on to explain that more time is needed to prepare "more advanced tools" and to focus on infrastructure ahead of the event.
