Marvel & Disney Cut Ties with Gazillion Entertainment, MHO to Shut Down
Kotaku is reporting that Disney and Marvel have cut ties with Gazillion Entertainment, developers of Marvel Heroes Omega. According to an email received from Marvel, the company wrote, "We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community and will provide any further updates as they become available."
Marvel Heroes Omega has been silent for weeks now, many speculating that just this action was incoming. From our story earlier this month:
Several fans have theories as to the sudden, and seemingly deathly, silence. Many point to the loss of PC players after the recent turn to consoles while others point to CEO Dave Dohrmann who has been embroiled in tawdry allegations of "inappropriate conduct toward female employees" going back a number of years. Jeff Donais wrote recently that, even before Dohrmann became CEO, he and several board members knew of the allegations of misconduct.
By all the evidence gathered, it appears that there are troubled waters indeed at Gazillion, enough so that fans are calling for both Marvel and Disney to step in and straighten it out, possibly even by removing Dohrman.
We have reached out to Gazillion and Marvel representatives to learn more. We'll keep you posted as the story develops.
