Turbine and the Lord of the Rings Online team have posted a response to a universal outage of all forums and LOTRO. According to the post, both the main and backup systems went down. At this time, Turbine is working with the systems operator to ensure it doesn't happen again. In addition, there are plans in the works for the upcoming weekend to help smooth customers' ruffled feathers.
As many of you are aware we experienced a major interruption of service yesterday that impacted all of our game worlds and web sites for a number of hours. This was caused by an unprecedented disruption of both primary and backup power systems at our main datacenter. All services have been restored and we are working with the relevant vendors to prevent future issues of this nature. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue.
