Believe it or not, but Lord of the Rings Online is turning ELEVEN years old! While the Anniversary Event has been around for quite awhile, players have an all new tier to the celebration that starts at the Party Tree on Thursday, April 19th. Players will be gifted three additional Treasure Hunt cards that focus on the "history of the game and core themes from the Lord of the Rings". All progression from last year's event remains in place and all quests from years' past are too.

The Lord of the Rings Online forum has been updated with the full patch notes for tomorrow's Legacy of the Necromancer patch. Most notably, Chapters 5 and 6 of the Black Book of Mordor will provide players a chance to move with the Golden Host toward Dol Guldur. In addition, the Strongholds of the North will open where players will meet Elvenking Thranduil and learn more about the troubles in Dale and Lake-town as well as help the dwarves in Erebor.

One of Canada's most celebrated personalities died earlier this week. Gord Downie was a member of The Tragically Hip and passed away from brain cancer on October 17th. In a poignant new blog post, Lead World Builder Chris Pierson has written about Downie's influence on his work on the game and more. To celebrate Downie's life, he has been memorialized in Lord of the Rings Online, playing the part of Garthebir, the Fortress Keeper, a balding, hat-wearing minstrel.
