Too Much of a Good Thing?

Too Much of a Good Thing? - MMORPG.com

One man thinks that Lineage II is too much of a good thing and has brought a lawsuit against NCSoft claiming that the game made him "“unable to function independently in usual daily activities such as getting up, getting dressed, bathing or communicating with family and friends" according to a report at Wired.com. The Hawaii man, David Smallwood, is seeking unspecified damages and wrote in his complaint that he would not have "played if (he) knew (he) would become addicted to the game".

A federal judge has not summarily dismissed Smallwood's complaint which may yet lead to a trial in the coming months.

VirtualWorldsNews.com has also learned:

Smallwood's Lineage II accounts were banned from Lineage II for engaging in alleged grey market RMT activity, which is expressly forbidden by NCSoft's EULA. Smallwood claims he never engaged in RMT activity and that NCSoft banned his accounts negligently as part of a scheme to "force" Lineage II players to begin playing another NCSoft game, Aion, instead. Smallwood's suit argues that his addiction to Lineage II resulted in emotional distress, a three-week hospital stay, and an ongoing regimen of therapy three times per week.
