Lineage II Chronicle V Developer Journal: Player vs. Player Combat

In Chronicle 5: Oath of Blood, every class in Lineage II has received a new skill or a change to an existing skill to enhance Player vs. Player combat. Almost 50 new skills have been added in Chronicle 5, beginning at level 46, to introduce new and challenging tactics to defeat an opponent.

Each class belongs to an overall group, and a balance was established between the five groups. Within the fighter classes, the three groups form their own balance against each other. These melee groups can be vulnerable to Damage Dealing Mystic classes, but are superior to Healing/Buffing Mystics in combat. Healing/Buffing Mystics also have new abilities at their disposal to effectively combat the Damage Dealing Mystics.

Knights
Paladin, Dark Avenger, Temple Knight, Shillien Knight, Swordsinger, Bladedancer

Knight classes have received new skills to weaken their adversary and hold them in place for a short period of time. Paladins and Temple Knights can invoke holy powers, using sacred energy to strengthen themselves and provoke their enemies. Shillien Knights and Dark Avengers can also harness the power of the underworld to attack with a dark energy. Swordsingers and Bladedancers have also learned new techniques to reduce the abilities of nearby foes.

Rogues
Treasure Hunter, Plains Walker, Abyss Walker, Hawkeye, Silver Ranger, Phantom Ranger

Rogues have improved their talent to unleash covert attacks on their enemies and can increase their own strengths. Treasure Hunters can hide in the shadows to attack with stealth. Treasure Hunters, Abyss Walkers, and Plains Walkers can launch an attack to weaken the accuracy of their target. Hawkeyes, Silver Rangers, and Phantom Rangers also have new abilities to enhance the strength or speed of their attacks, making them even more deadly with a bow.

Warriors
Gladiator, Warlord, Destroyer, Tyrant, Bounty Hunter, and Warsmith

Warriors can learn new skills to augment their fighting abilities and increase their resistance to certain attacks. Warlords can attack even more opponents with a brutal swing of their spear, while Tyrants and Destroyers call upon their guardian god to help them in their battles.

Damage Dealing Mystics
Sorcerer, Spellsinger, Spellhowler, Necromancer, Warlock, Elemental Summoner, and Phantom Summoner

Damage Dealing Mystics have learned new abilities to weaken and curse their opponents. These powerful wizards can cause their enemies to flee in fear or reduce their resistance to certain kinds of attacks. Warlocks, Elemental Summoners, and Phantom Summoners can also confuse an enemy’s servitor into attacking its allies.

Healing/Buffing Mystics
Bishop, Prophet, Elven Elder, Shillien Elder, Warcryer, and Overlord

Healing and Buffing Mystics can quickly aid their allies and have gained newfound powers in combat. Prophets and Warcryers can greatly fortify the attack and defense of their allies, while Bishops and Elven Elders have improved their healing skills even more. Bishops, Prophets, Elven Elders, and Shillien Elders can also release a devastating attack against an enemy’s summoned pet, or directly harm the MP of their foes.

Lineage II features unequaled PvP combat and the challenge is as fierce as ever. No battle is a guaranteed victory; it will take skill and strategy to win against any enemy that confronts you.
