Riot Co-Founder Asks If the Company Should Build an MMO

Riot Games Co-Founder Marc Merrill took to Twitter with an out-of-the-blue question to his followers: "Should we build a[n] MMO? Yay or nay?" Many presume it means an MMO based on League of Legends with the provided link to an interactive game map: "Explore the world ranging from the briny ports of Bilgewater to the soaring peaks of Mount Targon".

While some respondants to Merrill's question are dubious, others embrace the idea, but worry that they're just being teased.

We do know, however, that there is at least one "secret project" in the works at Riot Games, though it has remained tightly under wraps. You may remember that both Merrill and his co-founder, Brandon Beck left their administrative positions recently to work more closely to develop new, as-yet-unnamed games for the company.

In addition to this, we also know that former World of Warcraft Lead Game Designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street is with Riot, one among many experienced MMO developers.

So...how would you answer Merrill's question? Would you like to see Riot make an MMO based on League of Legends or would you like to see a new IP? Or do you think they're better staying out of the MMO racket altogether? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.
