Riot Games and Battlefly, an eSports platform, have announced a new update that will help League of Legends event planers to run their own tournaments and events. The latest Battlefly update makes the set-up process simpler and give organizers the ability to set up tournament lobbies, provide details stats tracking and score reporting.

League of Legends players have been treated to new footage of the Summoner's Rift map that is currently being overhauled. Summoner's Rift is one of, if not the, most heavily played maps in League of Legends. Check out the footage below and let us know what you think!

During PAX East 2014, we ran into Aeneia in an elevator, and promptly forced her to play her League of Legends parody song "The Troll Song" to the tune of Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song". I love League of Legends, but it’s no secret that the game’s community can be incredibly toxic. I’ve been playing LoL since beta and every couple of months I have to take a break from the game as I can only take so much toxicity. Last year, I decided to take a break between Season 3 and Season 4, but then I learned of Riot Games’ plan to implement a Team Builder feature that endeavored to help address one of the primary sources of toxicity in League of Legends: champion select.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that over twenty-seven million players log into League of Legends each and every day. The report was confirmed by Riot Games which also announced that it has counted 7.5M concurrent users, significantly up from last March's 5M.

The Twitter account belonging to Riot Games' Mark Merrill was commandeered by a hacker. During the takeover of the account, a game called League of Legends Supremacy was revealed. The information included images of the game that viewers have compared to Blizzard's Hearthstone.

Riot Games is helping players get together to view the Season 3 League of Legends championship series by launching the Viewing Party Program (VPP). Folks hosting a VPP need to submit their plan for approval. As it stands, 110 VPPs have been organized to date.

The League of Legends "shoutcasting" team will be on hand on Reddit from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm PST (4-6 pm EST) today to talk about the shoutcasting jobs available at Riot and to give some inside tips to see if the position is right for you.

Riot Games has announced that tickets for both the League of Legends playoff matches and the final championship matches will go on sale beginning Saturday, August 24th. The matches will be happening at Riot's broadcast studios Sept. 15 - 24, the Galen Center at USC on Sept. 27 and 28 and the World Championship final at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday October 4, 2013.

According to a new tweet on League of Legends' Leigh Smith's account, the US government now recognizes esports players on a par with the NBA, NFL, NHL and more. It entitles participants to travel visas for gaming events.

Proving that eSports are indeed a growing force in the world, the League of Legends Season Finals will be held at Staples Arena in Los Angeles. Staples Arena, for those who do not know, is the same place the Los Angeles Lakers play basketball.
