In a follow-up to David Bowman's diary about community building comes in
Horizons Journal 5 . This journal gives an in-depth look at castles ( the Devolpers have this to say ):
A castle in Horizons is a special type of community. In this community, there are many secondary plots but only one primary plot. Only one type of structure can be constructed on the primary plot, a keep. There will be variety within the available keeps, but any of them will fully occupy that one primary plot. Once the primary plot has been fully developed with a keep, then the other secondary plots will become available for lease. Unlike other communities, the owner of the primary plot controls the rules for the leasing of these secondary plots. If the owner wishes to impose additional taxes and or restrictions for the leasing of these secondary plots, they may. If they wish to impose additional rules governing which types of structures may be built upon the secondary plots, they may. It is wise for the owner of the primary plot to encourage the development of the secondary plots because the surrounding community plots will not begin to be developed by the computer-controlled characters until the secondary plots have reached key stages of development. This means that walls, towers, gates, defensive structures, guard generators and travel gates will not begin being developed until the owner of the keep has sweet-talked/bribed/brow-beaten other players into developing the secondary plots.
For all those who were thinking of being land owners or at least holding plots this might be something to watch out for
