Dragon Hoards Changing

Dragon Hoards Changing -

The official Horizons site recently posted that they will be changing the way the dragon hoards work in the game.  Here is a snippet from the announcement:

After some consideration, we have decided to change how Dragon hoards work. Our intent with this text is to outline our thinking towards the what's and why's of these changes.

Hoards currently have two problems, from our perspective. The first is decay, which can be fairly un-maintainable in the long-term. This can some times have the effect of making dragons feel pressured to be constantly monitoring and maintaining it and not able to relax and just enjoy themselves.

Second, the hoard concept doesn't particularly accomplish its initial goal. The original goal for hoards was to provide a unique way for Dragons to utilize items and reward them for doing so. This sort of works on a small scale, but because of the constant fight against decay, most often a dragon will go looking for an efficient item to build it up with, then manufacture hundreds of them -- or hire someone to do it.
