Tanks don’t grow on trees. They don’t just magically appear out of nowhere and then a bunch of soldiers just climb in and start blowing stuff up left and right. There’s a lot of work that goes into designing these treaded monsters. And no one seems to know more about what it takes to put one together than Wargaming’s Nicholas Moran.
Better known as “The Chieftain”, Nicholas is the company’s Military Specialist and the man who makes sure the tanks in World of Tanks are accurate in their design. He travels around the world accessing blueprint files and documents from archives researching all the makes and models of tanks that you players blow each other up with in order to ensure the most accurate in-game designs possible.
His most recent escapades led him Japan to get specs for the WoT 8.10 update. We caught up with him to find out the process of integrating new vehicles into the online arena, how the new Japanese tanks handle and how reality is balanced with gameplay. Check out the video below for the interview.
