MMORPG.com: Elsword's got a huge cast of colorful characters... why the Battle Magician now?
Elsword Team: Battle Magician is our second major new class in the Elsword Transformation series that began with Sheath Knight last month. Since Sheath Knight was more a natural evolution of the character Elsword’s focus on melee moves, we wanted our next new class to be a much bigger change, a total reimagining of the character. That’s why we’re launching the Battle Magician class for Aisha. Up to now she’s been a more traditional ranged caster; now she can move beyond casting massive spells and hold her own in melee combat too. If you’re the kind of player who loves to sling huge, destructive spells but doesn’t like being at a disadvantage when a melee class gets past your defenses, Battle Magician is perfect for you. With this class, Aisha can go toe-to-toe with the best brawlers around.
MMORPG.com: Can you give us some background on why she is the way she is? Read: POWERFUL.
Elsword Team: The background for Battle Magician is that Aisha’s mentor gives her a mystical pendant that amplifies her power and physical attack and that really plays out in the game. You still have plenty of ranged spells like any good caster, but you also have spells that buff your melee strength so opponents will never know what tricks you have up your sleeves.
MMORPG.com: What sort of combatant is she? We're assuming a long-ranged caster. But what makes her different from other casters in the game?
Elsword Team: Battle Magician basically allows you to combine two worlds that are usually kept separate for casters. True, she trades off a little diversity in long-ranged spells for more melee abilities, but the trade-off is well worth it. In PvP it means you can better adapt your strategies when you’re up against lots of melee opponents. It’s great in PvE too because there’s almost no boss you can’t handle. You’ll find a really diverse character makes dungeon runs a blast since you can approach encounters differently each time.
MMORPG.com: When can players look forward to trying her out?
Elsword Team: Players will be able to start dishing out the melee and magic together as a Battle Magician starting January 16th.
