Redbana US is bringing Mythos back from the grave. We spoke to Eric Liu, the company's Global Manager, about acquiring Mythos and what their version of it will be like. Mythos was originally developed by Flagship, but never made it far. The team that built it resurfaced and later brought the world Torchlight.

For players who have not heard of Mythos, can you tell our readers about the game?

Eric Liu:

Mythos is an online action role-playing game set in the fantasy world of Uld. The world is emerging from the epoch of a dark and terrible war. Players assume the roles of fantasy heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest through entirely randomized dungeons and environments.

As players journey into Mythos’ ever-expanding universe, they will select one of several races (Humans, Satyrs, Gremlins, or Cyclops), and character classes, which have their own large variety of skills and items. Through heroic quests, players search for the ever-better weapons, armor, and vast riches, while unlocking the secrets of Uld. Mythos presents a constantly expanding, continuously updated world where something new lurks around every corner.

How did Redbana get a hold of the game? Can you tell us the story from your side?

Eric Liu:

We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to take on Flagship’s project and continue its development. HanbitSoft acquired the intellectual property for Mythos, and now HanbiSoft’s parent company T3 Entertainment is developing it in conjunction with Redbana US Corp. Redbana will also be the publisher for Mythos in North America.

Mythos has a lot of fun game play elements to it. Can you share some of the design of the game?

Eric Liu:

Definitely! Here’s a glimpse into some of the features in the game:

QUESTS: There are a huge variety of quests in Mythos. As players complete major quests, they notice changes in the world around them.

DUNGEONS: Dungeons are the setting for almost all of the Mythos gameplay activity. There are a variety of dungeons ranging from dark, menacing caverns to sprawling green plains.

RUNEGATES: Runegate dungeons, which can contain treasure chests and monsters, are more easily accessible than the regular dungeons placed among the player’s travel route. These runegate dungeons add a great deal of variety to the environments a player can explore.

JOB TYPES: Jobs provide an added challenge factor for explorers. Having a job is an indication of accomplishment within the Mythos world and will express the player’s level of skill to their peers.

CUSTOMIZATION: In the world of Uld, it is possible to use different ingredients to make custom items, making your quest unique. You can learn how to make items from the customization panel by acquiring specific recipes.

CHARACTER ABILITIES: Mythos characters have 4 abilities to develop: Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, and Wisdom. Each character job/class can develop completely differently based on how a player distributes their ability points.

What classes and races will be available for players? Will they be the same as the earlier version of the game?

Eric Liu:

The same basic classes and races still exist from the previous version - Humans, Gremlins, Satyrs and Cyclops – although most have been given a face-lift. The available classes will include Bloodletter, Pyromanger, and Gadgeteer. We’ll also be adding additional classes and races and will be announcing those sometime in the future.

Do you plan to add new content to the game we saw in the past, what plans do you have for the future?

Eric Liu:

Multiple zones are being re-worked and upgraded, providing players with more to do and interact with. There are also plans to offer continuous updates to keep the Mythos world fresh and constantly expanding. We’ll be introducing new weapons and armor, new quests, new zones, and completely new races and classes in the future.

In the future, we’ll be revealing the Mythos development news on the newly launched Mythos website, Mythos.com. For now, fans can go there and sign up to get the latest details on then game as they become available.
