The development team answers more of our questions

The team building Dark and Light has answered more of our questions as our series of questions and answers continues in its sixth installment. Questions this week revolve around races, the dual-advancement system, tradeskills and more.

MMORPG.com: What sets the player character races apart from one another in DnL?
Dark and Light Team:

Choosing a race influences of course the own race characteristics. A ½ Troll will be naturally stronger than a Gnome. As soon as you elect your race, you will also have to choose our god allegiance among 9 Gods. The influence of your divine faction will allow you to talk with more or less easiness to some NPCs, for quests starting or other. It will also determine how monster’s antagonism will affect you…as monsters also depend on a god.

MMORPG.com: Tradeskills have become very important to most MMOs and, indeed, are often one of the main focuses of the game. Can you tell us a bit about DnLs Tradeskill system?
Dark and Light Team:

Craft system and more generally economy management is based on an alternative progress with combat. This is what is called SXP for Social Experience Points, FXP for Fighting Experience Points.

This conception is the basement of DnL spirit.

If a player wants his tool or item to be the best, he will be the only one who will be able to enhance its power: thanks to the craft or an upgrade linked to its profession.

Dynamic markets will allow players to exchange their products and participate to the game economy and inflation.

MMORPG.com: Can you describe to us a bit about the difference between Social Experience and Fight Experience and the advantages and dynamics they add to the game?
Dark and Light Team:

Progression on both axis will grant you social points of fighting points. These points will allow you to use social skills or fighting skills.

You will be able to use your class specific spell or attack only if you have enough fighting points. These points will be granted as you face monsters.

On the other side, if you want to become a politician or develop crafter competencies, you will need social points. These points can be won while developing its profession, managing smartly its territory or exploring the world of Ganareth.

Any action that has impact on others grant social points: bringing crystals to a mana fountain of your alignment rises your social points.

MMORPG.com: Many players find the exploration of new areas to be one of the most exciting aspects of an MMO. Will players find an abundance of interesting areas to explore in DnL?
Dark and Light Team:

Exploration is key in DnL and if we have to point out one gameplay that is unique and that deep for a MMO, we would point out exploration.

First, areas are as varied as mountains, lakes, sea sides, marshes, savanna, forests, countryside, desert…

And players will have many tools to explore such a paraglide, cable cars, dragons and other mounts. Everything has been done to allow players to spend as long time as they want exploring the world of Ganareth.

At least, exploration is totally part of leveling. You don’t explore just for pleasure, exploration is also required to get new skills and gain experience.

Exploration in DnL is a very complete and achieve gameplay mode.

MMORPG.com: How interactive is the DnL storyline with the player-base? Will the actions of a player’s character, in any way, affect the way the story in the game unfolds?
Dark and Light Team:

The world of Ganareth is unique and any player will have a chance to take part to the evolution of the world. Thanks to numerous event Alchemic Dream will manage, always referring to DnL lore, any action of the player is interactive with the storyline and future.
