MMORPG.com: What are your primary goals for the initial rollout of the PlanetSide 2 PS4 beta?

Clint Worley: The PlanetSide 2 Closed Beta is mainly focused on getting the game out to a small, focused group to test stability and performance, as well as gather feedback on how the game looks and feels. We will be interacting with players via the forums, and working to find and address open issues with the game.

MMORPG.com: What content will be available during the initial beta rollout? Also, will there be any limitations in terms of available features?

Clint Worley: During Closed Beta, all the core gameplay mechanics that make PlanetSide 2 unique will be available, but initially, there will be some limitations on available features. We will have two of the four continents accessible at the start of Closed Beta, though all Empires and the majority of the weapons, attachments and upgrades will be available. We will introduce the other continents at a later time in the beta for players to enjoy and test. We also have a new tutorial map that is being worked on to help ease the learning curve as well.

MMORPG.com: How long will this first test go on for? Will there be additional test phases?

Clint Worley: We are focused on getting feedback and making sure that PlanetSide 2 launches as a full console experience on the PS4, so we don’t want to set a specific end date. There will be multiple phases of the Closed Beta, and players should look for information on the official Beta forums detailing our plans.

MMORPG.com: Can you talk about some of the content or features that will be coming to the beta at a later date?

Clint Worley: We’ll be adding features and doing bug fixes throughout the Beta period, such as the tutorial map and additional continents. Of course, we’ll also be making adjustments throughout the Beta based on player feedback.

MMORPG.com: How can players get involved in the beta? Do PlanetSide 2 players with a premium membership receive guaranteed access?

Clint Worley: Players can sign up for the Beta through our website The invites are going out on a first-come, first-serve basis, so get your requests in sooner rather than later. At this time, there is no guaranteed access to the Beta tied to membership or any other incentive or promotions.
