Earlier this month, Nexon announced that it was closing the Korean version of Hyper Universe. It appears that the problem of a lack of a robust player community has been detected in the West and the PC / Steam version will be closing down on December 19th.

MMOCulture is reporting that the Korean version of Nexon's Hyper Universe is shutting down on November 15th after two years in service. The reasons are pretty much what you'd expect: The game didn't gain the footing developers wanted and it was difficult to provide the service to players they expected. This only affects the Korean version with the North American / European version still in live service for the time being.

For the first time ever, Nexon is bringing one of its games to XBox One. The first game heading to the console is Hyper Universe that will arrive on August 7th. Fans can preorder a $20 Ultimate Hypers Pack that includes all current and future Hypers as well as six XBox-exclusive skins.

Nexon is inviting all Hyper Universe players to head into game and get started on Ranked Mode Season 1. The inaugural ranked season starts today and runs through June 14th. Players can earn a Season 1 emblem for participating in one match or shoot for Gold tier or higher to earn the Gold Hyper Selection Name Plate. Players taking part in 50 ranked matches can earn a special Sonny Boy Bonya skin.

Hyper Universe has been updated to bring ranked mode into the game. Players have from today through February 22nd to take part in the first-ever Ranked Mode Preseason. Any player with account level 15+ and a dozen Hypers can take part in the event. The preseason action also comes with Captain Red, a new Specialist Hyper with both melee and ranged attacks.

If you've been waiting for Hyper Universe to launch, you're in luck. Today marks the official release of Nexon's latest game and comes complete with launch day rewards for everyone who joins in on the fun. The official patch notes for today's launch includes a half dozen new Hypers as well as new language support options and the mission system. The latter includes daily, weekly and monthly missions for a variety of rewards.

Nexon has announced that Hyper Universe will officially launch on January 17th. The game will be available both on Steam and via the Nexon Launcher. Players will see some improvements with launch day including a "more balanced core experience with an emphasis on individual skill and coordinated teamplay". In addition, a new content update will be deployed with new team comps and interactions as well as a new Hyper for each class.

Hyper Universe is getting ready to blast off into retail release in January, but wants to provide one last opportunity for players to take part in a free weekend event. From December 15-20, players can log in to try out the new Bruiser-class Hyper, participate in the Ranked Mode map and check out the holiday theme that's descended into the game.

Hyper Universe has been updated with a brand new patch that brings "famed martial artist" Liu into the game. He's a hands on kinda guy who deals fury with fists, feet and nunchucks. As an assassin, Liu is adept at surprising his enemies.

Shaha is the newest hyper to enter Hyper Universe and she brings with her a host of Halloween goodness as well as a free weekend from today through October 23rd. Players will be able to get hold of "festive emblems and skins as well as check out some new balance changes.

Hyper Universe has been updated to bring Curse Eye into the game. He can provide support to his teammates and even turn enemies into stone. He comes to the game along with ten new items that can be equipped by any Hyper. In addition, balance changes based on community feedback have seen tweaks to stats and skills. Lastly, you can still grab a Founder's Pack for a sweet 20% discount that gives you access to all Hypers now and forever.
