Announced in a recent PlayStation Blog and confirmed by Guerrilla Games on Twitter, Horizon Zero Dawn is releasing on PC this summer.
In fact, the game is up on Steam right now, despite showing off PS4 Pro screenshots. The details for the PC release come from the PS Blog with newly minted PlayStation’s Head of Worldwide Studios, Hermen Hulst (previously Managing Director of Guerrilla Games).
After many rumors, it’s finally confirmed.
“Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.”
Hermen continued,
“And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”
This follows news of another Demica Engine PlayStation console exclusive game, Death Stranding, also seeing a release on PC. And recently, a slew of Quantic Dreams games such as Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, and Detroit: Become Human all saw PC releases.
So despite Hermen’s notion of not every game coming to PC, it’s worth noting that quite a few PlayStation console exclusives already have done so in recent years.
