North American Heroes of the Storm players can head into the Nexus to check out the game's latest heroes, Imperius the Archangel of Valor. Imperius is a frontline warrior who specializes in crowd control, though at the expense of high mobility.
After an inglorious reveal late last week, the Heroes of the Storm team has released the Imperius Spotlight video that shows him to be an all-out brawler. The video showcases his abilities and provides a bit of background lore about the Leader of the Angiris Council and the Aspect of Valor.
Diablo 3's archangel, Imperius, is the next hero coming to the Heroes of the Storm Nexus. Imperius will be available on the public test realm on January 2nd. The announcement isn't unexpected since the community was told in a recent producer's letter that the next hero would be coming along right after the start of the new year. What is surprising is that the announcement came without an accompanying video or explanation of Imperius's abilities.
Heroes of the Storm Production Manager Kaeo Milker has posted a new thread on the official forums to inform the community about forthcoming development of the game. Most notable, he indicates that the "next few months will unfold much like we'd originally planned" and that the game's 85th hero would be announced and arriving on the PTR in early January. He goes on to say that, while the team is smaller, it's "functional" and can make "the features and content we want".
One of J. Allen Brack's first major acts as president of Blizzard is a new & worrisome post on the Heroes of the Storm site. The letter begins with the ominous tone that states, "We've made the difficult decision to shift some developers from HotS to other teams." The letter goes on to attempt to reassure fans that "HotS remains our love letter to Blizzard's worlds and characters" but then announces two esports events will canceled going forward.
The Heroes of the Storm Twitter has a new video that shows off some of the great new skins coming in the Winter 2018 event. These include Cuddle Bear Stitches, Playtime Dehakasaurus Rex and Cosmic Force Valeera. There is also a minty fresh recolor of Sylvanas's Sugar Plum Fairy skin and a new announcer as well as tons of icons and sprays....oh and the AWESOME Plush Unicorn mount! The event runs from December 11th to January 7th.
In a future update, Sylvanas will be getting a significant update. According to the Heroes of the Storm Twitter, "With improved team fighting capabilities, a higher skill-cap, and a whole new set of powerful and engaging talents, the Banshee Queen is back and better than ever!"
The latest Heroes of the Storm update has touched nearly every pure healer in the game with a number of adjustments to their abilities. Several other heroes received attention as well including Kerrigan, Hanzo, Genji and Orphea. Lastly, the HotS team has published a new video to look at upcoming changes to Stitches to make him a more fearsome combatant.
During Blizzcon the heroes team not only announced a brand-new hero who is the firist hero to come directly from the Nexus, but they also had more about character Role Updates, Boosts changes, Armor changes, and the updates they’ve been working on for both Sylvanas and Stiches. I also had the opportunity to talk to the Lead Hero Designer Matt Villers and Lead Animator Careena Kingdom to get a more in depth look at some of these changes.
During this weekend's BlizzCon 2018, Heroes of the Storm introduced some serious shake ups coming to the game that were largely overshadowed by other convention news. In one of the biggest pieces of news, the team revealed that the Hero Roster is going to undergo some serious retooling in the near future.
Heroes of the Storm Game Director Alan Dabiri has left his position on the team to "begin a new adventure elsewhere within the company". He accepted the new position several months ago and began the transition to move to the new team. As yet, there is no mention of who will be taking over as Game Director. Dabiri has been with Blizzard for 20 years and has served in a number of capacities across the breadth of the company's portfolio.
The Heroes of the Storm site has been updated with a profile of the next playable character coming to the Nexus. Dreadlord Mal'Ganis is fresh out of the Warcraft universe where he originally was charged with corrupting Arthas Menethil. In HotS, Mal'Ganis will be a Life-Draining Warrior, seemingly more tanky than DPS.
The Heroes of the Storm team has been teasing out images of the next hero coming to the Nexus. Today, the picture came together with an iconic quote from Warcraft. The image came with one of the demon's "signature quotes" said to Arthas Menethil at Stratholme, "I have been waiting for you. Are you ready to fulfill your purpose?"
The newest Heroes of the Storm event is now live in game. Called "The Fall of King's Crest", players from now through October 15th to take part. A new comic has been released that provides the lore behind the event and the Heroes that have been chosen to "star" in it. In addition, and as part of an ongoing series of videos for the BlizzCon 2018 Virtual Ticket, a new documentary has been released to shine the spotlight on those who create comics for Blizzard.
Heroes of the Storm (NA) has been updated to bring the Fall of Kings Questline into the game along with reworked heroes Kerrigan and Brightwing and the newly retooled Garden of Terror map. In addition, Ranked Season 4 and Team League changes have been made live for those on the competitive side of things.
