The Heroes of the Storm site has been updated with the news that the competitive Season 2 will begin the week of September 12th and run through the week of December 12th. A number of Grand Master League changes have been implemented including reducing the number of Grand Master players allowed to participate in Hero League.
Heroes of the Storm will soon be getting an Overwatch-style system of commendations and MVP notice at the end of every match. All HotS matches with the exception of Custom Matches will see players able to promote others (or themselves!) to MVP no matter which team won. In addition, other rewards will be handed out based on specific criteria.
Top EU teams have secured a position at the Heroes of the Storm Fall Global Championships to be held during this year's Blizzcon in November. Team Dignitas took home $25,000 while Misfits and Fnatic duked it out for the second slot with Fnatic ultimately prevailing in a best-of-three fight to the finish.
Heroes of the Storm will be getting a new Starcraft-themed event called Machines of War that will see two new Heroes enter the Nexus, new skins, mounts and more. Two new maps, both Starcraft oriented, will be the centerpiece of Machines, one called Warhead Junction and one called Braxis Holdout.
The first North American regional Heroes of the Storm champion has been crowned after last weekend's tournament action. Murloc Geniuses will be heading to the Fall Global Championship at Blizzcon.
Blizzard has announced that Diablo 3's Auriel has arrived on the Heroes of the Storm PTR. Auriel will have an ability to resurrect other players, a handy tool for the end of the match when resurrection is long and frustrating. Check out her Spotlight trailer that reveals her skills and background.
The next character to enter the Heroes of the Storm nexus will be none other than Diablo 3's Archangel Auriel, the harbinger of hope. Blizzard has released a cinematic look at Auriel that previews a few of her skills and what she promises to bring to the team as what appears to be a support character. Check it out!
The first Heroes of the Storm Fall Regional championship is scheduled to take place at DreamHack Valencia on Thursday, July 14th and Friday, July 15th. Several European teams will be taking part in a battle for the $100,000 prize pool and a slot in the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship to be held at BlizzCon 2016.
The public test realm for Heroes of the Storm has been updated with the next hero set to enter the Nexus. Gul'Dan is available for testing through July 11th. Players can also get a first look at some of the other incoming changes to HotS.
Diablo 3's Archangel Auriel seems to be the next hero that will wend her way into Heroes of the Storm, at least according to the .gif you see below. The portal is similar to those in Diablo 3 and it is surrounded by Amazon Nova, Kharazim and the female Crusader.
Blizzard has announced that all heroes will be free to play for a limited time to celebrate the conclusion of the two Heroes of the Storm Summer Championships. The free hero rotation will take place from June 24th to June 28th. In addition, a special package of hero skins will be made available during the event.
Heroes of the Storm players have a new champion to check out with the arrival of Medivh, a caster with a unique ability that will undoubtedly bring great angst to opponents. In addition, the overhauled version of Ranked Play has entered the game just in time to kick off Season 1. The season will last until August 23rd.
Medivh will be heading to the Nexus soon and will be shaking the game to its foundation. With Medivh present, teams will have access to a raven form that allows him to zoom all over the map and become invincible in the process. This allows for scouting ability far above that of stealth characters and gives him a chance to harass teams trying to capture points and so on.
The Heroes of the Storm team is ready to celebrate the MOBA's first anniversary with some nice boosts and rewards for players who take part in a special birthday event. Beginning June 2nd, players logging into HotS will enjoy an extra +50% to XP games that will continue through June 14th. In addition, those logging in will be treated to a first anniversary portrait.
Chromie, a member of the Bronze Dragonflight, will be joining the Nexus when she enters Heroes of the Storm. In a new video from Blizzard, the team gives a bit of her backstory as well as a look at her abilities. Check it out!
