Blizzard has decided to end active development and shop updates on Heroes of the Storm. The game will continue to run for the time being, with future patches only for necessary bug fixes and maintenance.
Heroes of the Storm received patch notes, with their newest hero, Qhira, now live.
In a press release today, Blizzard announced that Heroes of the Storm's newest hero Qhira, is live now on the Public Test Realm. Updates to Ranked Play are also incoming.
If you're a Heroes of the Storm player, you'll definitely want to check out the laundry list of changes to Heroes in the latest update. Twenty-one Heroes went under the microscope and came out with significant changes to abilities.
Mechastorm II has officially launched into Heroes of the Storm. It comes complete with new skins for Yrel, Valla and Malthael as well as the new Seraph Wing Mount. In addition, players can also score new sprays, voice lines, announcers and more. As for hero updates, Chen has been reworked from the ground up to retool some abilities and add some new ones.
The Heroes of the Storm team has revealed a new in-game event called Mechastorm 2.0. As usual, players will complete a number of objectives to earn some in-game rewards. These include skins, portraits and other collectibles.
The Heroes of the Storm team has finally published the spotlight video for Anduin Wrynn, the next healer coming to the Nexus with today's update (NA). In the video, viewers are introduced to a bit of his background before diving into the skills he brings to the battlefield.
The Heroes of the Storm PTR has been updated with the newest hero, Anduin Wrynn, coming to the Nexus. Anduin "has come to the Nexus to take his place by his father's side" and is a ranged healer. According to the patch notes, he brings a several abilities designed to keep his companions healthy as well as "the potential to unleash the Light's swift justice to enemies on the battlefield".
The Heroes of the Storm Twitter seems to be teasing the next hero with a new image posted yesterday. One of the most widely rumored heroes players have been expecting is Anduin Wrynn from World of Warcraft. The image seems to show Shalamayne, once the sword of Anduin's father, Varian. After Varian's death in WoW, the sword passed to Anduin. During a cinematic video for Battle for Azeroth, the light at the center of the sword changed from red to a golden one.
A Heroes of the Storm player named Michael Mickowski, 26, has been arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada on charges of terrorism and is currently being held on a $150,000 bail in place. Mickowski was arrested after Blizzard Entertainment reported comments he made while playing HotS where he threatened a mass shooting at a school when he "had enough money to buy a gun and some ammunition". At first, Mickowski threatened a high school, but changed to threatening an elementary school.
The Heroes of the Storm team will be taking part in a special Reddit AMA starting at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern today. Eight members of the development team will be on hand to answer questions from the community. This could be an interesting and informative event in light of the big changes the game has undergone in the past several months, including the elimination of Blizzard-sponsored tournaments, the corporate layoffs and interesting changes to the game itself.
The latest Heroes of the Storm event has landed in-game and it's a brand new one at that. Called Caldeum Acropolis, the event sends players on a journey into the future where four gangs are duking it out for control of the Acropolis. Players will find new quests that reward special Caldeum Complex Loot Chests that can contain futuristic skins, epic mounts, sprays, icons and even a chance at previous years' limited-time Lunar New Year Spring event items.
The Heroes of the Storm PTR has been updated with a large patch that lays out big changes coming to several heroes, including Chromie. In addition, the game's next event, Caldeum Complex, is revealed and devs announce the merger of both the Hero League and Team League. The new competitive play is called "Storm League" and is available to players with at least 16 heroes and an account level of 50+.
Heroes of the Storm has been updated with the Resistance patch that brings new themed skins into the game. Players can check out the military appearances for Cain as Deckard Pain, Hanzo as Delta Hanzo, Blaze (in human form!) as Cpl. Miles Lewis and, of course, D.E.R.P.A. the new themed mount. Heroes of the Storm Production Director Kaeo Milker published a lengthy post on the game's official site to give the community a forward look at what it can expect to see from the game in the coming months. He begins with an apology for the silence of late, "We've been working very hard behind the scenes to regroup as a team and align on our goals for 2019 and beyond."
