Steelseries is launching a World of Warcraft collaboration, kitting out some of their most iconic products with WoW livery to celebrate the MMO's 20th anniversary.
The Steelseries x World of Warcraft Limited Edition Collection sees the company revamp the look of its Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Headset, Aerox 9 Wireless MMO mouse, and newly released desk mat, which features the iconic Sword of Sargeras looming large in the picture.
Want a little more Sword of Sargeras in your life? You can also pick up the Artisan Keycap, which can fit onto your keyboard to remind you of this important touchstone in Azeroth's timeline.
Steeelseries was kind enough to send over a few of the items for us to check out, including a TKL keyboard for the keycap, and I have to say I was pretty blown away by the quality.
When I saw pictures of the collaboration ahead of time I figured that the World of Warcraft logos on the Aerox mouse or the Arctis Nova 7 were simply decals pained on the device. Yet these are fully embossed logos, feeling as if they were carved right there on the surface. It was a nice surprise, and it adds such a premium feel to the collaboration.
The Arctis Nova 7 also allows you to remove the WoW logo from the sides and replace it with another magnetic speaker plate. With the Arctis Nova 7 Booster Packs, you can show off your Horde or Alliance pride. They even come with a replaceable ski-helmet-style headband to finish off the look.
The headset and mouse do cost a little more than their non-WoW variants ($199.99 for the Arctis Nova 7 and $159.99 for the Aerox 9 Wireless), but that extra cost is worth it for the extra detailing. Steelseries could have just custom printed a logo on the side of the speaker plates or the mouse, but instead they went all out to create a truly premium version of each, which is nice to see.
The Artisan Keycap is a work of art unto itself. Forged in resin, the keycap highlights the Sword of Sargeras shoved into the mantle of Azeroth, with the World of Warcraft logo emblazoned in the front. The coolest part of this keycap is that glows red with the lighting of your keyboard underneath, the rivers of magma shining blood red throughout the piece.
It's not cheap, $79.99 for a single keycap is a lot, even in an expensive hobby like custom keyboard building, but each one is individually numbered and sure to be a highlight to showcase to anyone visiting - or as a reminder that Blizzard really did sit on explaining what that Sword was doing there for years upon years.
The collaboration comes with in-game goodies as well, such as the Grinning Reaver and Battle Turtle mounts, as well as the Lil' Flameo pet, with each piece of kit coming with a digital code to redeem.
It's a great celebration of one of the most important MMOs, if not the most important games, to ever be released. Any World of Warcraft collector would do well to keep an eye on these, as well as anyone looking to upgrade their gear and want something a bit more unique than their standard headset and mouse combo.
The package isn't up for sale just yet, but you can sign up to be notified once the World of Warcraft collab is live on the Steelseries website. The Steelseries x World of Warcraft Limited Edition Collection is slated to launch on September 24th.
