Rock Jaw Audio came into the game back in 2012 with one clear goal, exceeding everyone’s expectations for great Bluetooth earphones. Enter the T5 Ultra Connect Ear Buds, one of relatively few products we’ve seen from the company. Look and sound prove that this company knows their stuff, but do they earn their $100 cost of entry? Let’s take a deeper look and find out.

Wireless earbuds have been around for years and, across companies, they’ve undergone many designs and changes that have made them outstanding options for audio lovers ready to cut the cord. The T5 Ultra Connect from Rock Jaw Audio has been designed with comfort, sustainability, and amazing audio quality at the forefront.

Designed with aircraft-grade aluminum and a clean brushed finish, it will hold up to just about anything you can throw at it, and it will look great while doing it. The T5 is water resistance and sweatproof, which means hours of use outside or in the gym. The earbuds are held together by a convenient neck band, so these are more traditional than the new “true wireless” earbuds surging the market right now. The neckband offers better reception and battery life (and makes the T5s harder to lose), as well as offering an in-line remote to control audio levels and syncing the Bluetooth to your compatible devices. Another feature, which helps a lot for those going on a run, is the magnetic strip that has been added to the ends of the earbuds. When you aren’t using them you can put the ends together and have them hanging on your neck, ready when you need them to be.

We all want premium sound when investing in a new headphone but hearing and taste are subjective things. With the T5 you can customize your sound with three different options for sound filters which include, silver, gold, and black. Silver is setup for rock, electronic music, and others of the type. Gold is set up to give you the best natural sound (think of this like the “T5 out-of-the-box” sound), and black is for enhanced treble for those tiny details often found in, but certainly not limited to, classical types. Being able to listen to a song, and pick out how clean a guitar, or piano, even a saxophone, how the notes articulate, is something that you will fully appreciate after trying this headset, especially if you’ve never used a HiFi Bluetooth earbud before. I have previously reviewed another set of earbuds from Blitzwolf and these are leaps and bounds better – there’s really no competition in the sheer detail and clarity the extra investment brings. There’s also a fullness to the sound that’s very appealing over long listening sessions.

With the Comply foam ear tips, you will be amazed at how well the memory foam fits and conforms to your ear. Just be prepared to hold it there for a few seconds to make sure the foam expands to its full size before moving forward with your listening pleasures. The greatest thing about these ear tips is the ability to block outside noise while you are in high noise areas, or even just at home with your kids. I would put the noise blocking in the same category as the Logitech Pro X headset, which has great noise isolation. The excellent seal also means enhanced bass, too, which applies to any of the filters.

None of these facts would matter much without a great battery. Designed specifically for Rock Jaw Audio devices, the battery is rated to last eleven or more hours on a single charge. You can charge your earbuds by attaching the included USB Type-C cable directly into the in-line remote; however, there’s no wall-wart, so you’ll need to buy one separately or use a PC to charge the earphones.

Likewise, connectivity is excellent. The T5 Ultra Connects use Bluetooth 5.0 for extra range and reliability. Setting them up takes seconds following the included instructions and I never once had them drop out or lose sync when watching video.

Final Thoughts

For a device that is great to use while working out, going about your day, or even connecting it to your PC’s Bluetooth connection for some wireless gaming, the Rock Jaw Audio T5 Ultra Connect delivers clear, detailed, non-fatiguing audio you’ll be able to enjoy for hours. Paired with the Comply foam tips you’ll be able to seal out the outside world and sink into your content. The Rock Jaw Audio T5s are sublime.
