When I started using the Alldocube M8, I led in with a slight apprehension about it. I have only ever used IPads and Galaxy Tabs before, outside of normal cell phone use of course. I knew when I started that this was an android tablet and I was all for that, because I like using android more than the IPad tech. We will start by taking a look at the features that are most likeable about this tablet.

Functionality is key

The M8 tablet is lightweight and portable coming in at a weight of 12.2 ounces, and encased within a sealed case that is only 8.44mm thick. You will see how well you are able to move with it in just one hand. It is very easy to play games like Candy Crush, Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links, and even Knights of the Old Republic and PUBG Mobile. You don’t feel like you are holding a tablet so much as you are holding something lightweight like a small notebook. It sits nicely in your hand and doesn’t slip when you are walking with it due to the design of the back cover. If all tablets were created equal then this one would step outside of that mold where it counts with how simply you can manage this tablet and everything on it. Battery life is one thing that will have you playing for a little more time than with other tablets. I played PUBG mobile for thirty minutes and dropped 10% of my battery life in that time. Considering the amount of use is needed for that game I would say it is pretty good. So when all is said and done, the 5500mAh large battery pack lasts about five hours based on this usage.

How the tablet works on the inside is the next step to understanding just how powerful it is. The M8 is built in a 20 nm process with 10 CPU cores, also known as Helio X27. Games load a lot faster with the two Cortex-A72 cores that run at 2.6GHz. Gaming performance is pushed even further with the integrated ARM Mali T880 MP4 GPU, which clocks at 875 MHz improving gameplay and application use by 30%. This is proven in a simple way, I played games with the tablet. The smaller simple games play marvelously with the tech that is built in, and then I took it for a spin with some more graphics heavy games. I played Knights of the Old Republic, which is an RPG made by Bioware and it is very story heavy with cut scenes and in game fights that can tax a lesser system. It ran the game very smoothly. I also tested it out with PUBG mobile, which isn’t optimized very well for systems, but in this case worked extremely well on the Alldocube M8 tablet. I played one game to test it out and was surprised by how responsive it was with the built in controls of the game. I managed to take out several players and get the chicken dinner.

The picture quality of the 8 inch IPS screen is astounding at a 1920 x 1200 full view resolution. The older games like KOTOR and even newer games like PUBG Mobile may not have the greatest graphics but they come through really clean and clear when you are playing on the M8. The great thing about using this tablet is how drawing on it works. I use a program called SketchBook to draw logos and emotes for friends to use on Twitch and the color quality is on point when you look at the different colors that go into an art piece. The screen is very responsive to my universal soft tipped stylus as well with pretty good precision.

Finally, the last three pieces of the tablet that are pretty important to its usage. Storage, sound, and WiFi, are key to using a tablet like this. Generally when you have a tablet you want to make sure you have good storage for the bigger projects or games you are going to carry with you. The M8 comes with 32GB of storage which equals about 21 movie files and 7,000 music files according to the company. I haven’t tried to use up all the storage in this way, but the games I play are a little bigger than most so it does its job. Sound is key to playing games, movies, and music from a tablet. This one comes equipped with an Independent amplifier enhancing your sound quality and preventing the normal crackling sound that some tablets normally have when played too loud. Having used the tablet for gaming I can tell you up front that the sound is decent compared to audio from some of the other tablets and even from my personal cell phone. Dual band WiFi is key for great internet connectivity and at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz the speeds you can surf at are outstanding. I never had a single slow down even in a spot in my house that I know has a low WiFi range. This tablet has been made to be usable in even some of the lowest WiFi areas it seems.

Conclusion

Alldocube’s M8 Tablet is a wonder of technology and it lets you experience gaming, movies, and more at your fingertips without a giant computer rig to do it. From the crystal clear picture, to the amazing amount of storage, to the ability to make art and play games, you will not be disappointed when you pick one of these up. The price point is comparable to other tablets of its type and size as well making it an awesome pickup for your buck.
