Sons of the Forest 1.0 went live on February 22, much to the excitement of fans of the survival games. The game is available on Steam for PC players, but can you play Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck?
Sons of the Forest has finally left its Early Access, after a year since its first release. With update 1.0 dropping for the title, you’ll have access to tons of new items, and new mutants, alongside several gameplay improvements.
Of course, you can only play the game on a PC, via Steam, with most PC configurations running it smoothly due to low system requirements.
However, if you’re wondering whether you can play Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck, here’s what you should know.
Can You Play Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck After 1.0 Update?
Yes, you can play Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck, but it isn’t among the list of supported games for the Steam Deck. This simply means that while you can enjoy Sons of the Forest on Steam Deck, it won’t be an ideal experience, and you might get frame drops and other issues.
Many in the community have reported that while playing the game on Steam Deck, there are often big frame drops, especially when exploring new areas. There are also reports of the title crashing while building or when several objects appear on the screen.
To avoid this, we recommend scaling back all of the settings in Sons of the Forest and, if possible, avoiding combat against multiple enemies at once.
Whether Endnight Games decides to optimize the title for Valve’s handheld remains to be seen, but we can expect some improvements for the gameplay on Steam Deck in the future, given that it’s already somewhat playable on the device.
