Playing any game on the Steam Deck is downright revolutionary. You can sit on the couch, five feet away from your ultra-powerful gaming computer, and play the latest indie game on a handheld computer with a fraction of the power. It’s a fun, comforting way to finish your backlog. But sometimes you want to play the hot new releases, like Nightingale. Is Nightingale on Steam Deck?

Does Nightingale Have Steam Deck Support?

Nightingale does not offer official Steam Deck support upon launching into Steam Early Access. However, that doesn’t mean the first-person survival game doesn’t work. It does but with a few caveats.

First and foremost, don’t expect the best performance imaginable. It’s rough, even on a desktop, with several bugs and server connection issues plaguing the game. The primary reason for the poor handheld performance is because the developer flat-out told everyone they were not supporting the game on Steam Deck at launch but that they would consider handheld support sometime down the line.

Suppose you’re sensitive to poor framerates, significant drops, rubber-banding, and other notorious performance and lag issues. In that case, waiting for official Steam Deck support to hit Nightingale might be best.

What Are the Best Nightingale Steam Deck Settings for Performance?

But if none of those issues will deter you, it’s possible to tweak a few settings to ensure the best performance for Nightingale on Steam Deck.

  • Quality Preset: Performance
  • Motion Blur: Off
  • Anti-Aliasing: Performance
  • Effects: Performance
  • Foliage: Performance
  • Textures: Performance
  • Shadows: Performance
  • Post-Processing: Performance
  • Field of View: 110
  • Frame Rate Limit: 40
  • TSR Quality: Ultra Performance
  • Enable Vertical Sync: Off

As you can see, you primarily want to run the game on ‘Performance’ settings whenever available. This is especially true regarding shadows and post-processing, which can significantly eat up performance on handheld hardware.

If all else fails, remain patient. Developer Inflexion Games intends to add Steam Deck support; it’s just a matter of time! While you play, make sure to check out our guide on how Portal cards and Biome cards work to help you along your journey as a Realmwalker.
