The weapon leveling and ability system has changed in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth , so forget everything you learned in Remake. It’s a little confusing at first, but on closer inspection, it’s actually more straightforward and streamlined than its predecessor.
How Do You Equip A New Weapon Skill In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
Each party member starts off with two different weapon abilities that you can equip in FF7 Rebirth. Simply go to the equipment and materia screen from the pause menu, pick a character, and look below their equipped materia. You’ll see a little symbol where a weapon ability can be added.
Here, you can freely swap between whichever weapon ability you want. I’ve opted mostly for ones that allow my party to deal more damage, but you might prefer to make you team tankier instead.
As you level up, you’ll unlock more weapon abilities, and you can even see a little sneak peek of them if you go into the upgrade weapons submenu. On the right-hand side of the screen, there will be a preview for what ability is coming up next.
Make sure you keep switching your weapon abilities like you should your materia to get the most out of them and prepare properly for each fight. Better physical damage won’t work well against an enemy weak to magic, so maybe opt for more health.
