Ultima Online Arms Lore and Blacksmithy Guide
MMORPG.com Ultima Online writer V D writes this Arms Lore and Blacksmithy Skill Guide to the classic MMORPG, Ultima Online.
ARMS LORE
With Arms Lore you can evaluate the condition and stat of armor and weapons and with a minimum of 80% in this skill as well as Wrestling you can attempt to disarm any opponent!
SKILL TRAINING
Training in this skill is easy… Keep using it. My suggestion, just go to a mall somewhere in Luna and open a bunch of vendors bags. Now just use the skill on any and all weapons and pieces of armor. It’s kind of dull, but that’s just how it goes:

BLACKSMITHY
Blacksmithy is a good skill to have if you want to make your own armor and weapons. When you reach Grand Master status you can normally put your mark on the exceptional items you produce, so that everyone who ever uses it will know how talented you are!
Reaching Grand Master in Mining skill is highly suggested if you seriously want to be a Blacksmith. This way you will be able to get the ingots that you will need without having to buy them, and you it will make you recover a lot more ingots when you’re smelting items you do not want. Even without being a GM Miner, the higher your mining skill the more ingots will be returned to you when smelting metal goods:
SKILL TRAINING
Training in Blacksmithy is easy but repetitive. Just… Keep making stuff ;) Before you start you should make sure you have around 50,000 plain iron ingots, since that is about how many you will need to reach Grandmaster level. And about double that to go to 120 in this skill. Using colored ingots will not help your training, so don’t make anything fancy until you feel confident that you are going to make something really good that you’ll want to keep. And as always, remember to have a large supply of hammers or tongs ready for when you wear them out. These can be bought from NPC tinkers, or made with some minimal tinkering skill:
Skill | Item to make |
0% |

I suggest training in this given item order. When you reach that skill level those are the easiest items to craft. So working on a katana before a broadsword isn’t going to help you gain any faster, it will just take away an extra item that you could get some easy skill points from.
As I mentioned, this is a very tedious skill to work on. It takes a lot of patience, but once you reach maximum level you will feel pretty damn good about yourself. Although you could use runic hammers at any skill level to craft magical weapons and armor, I strongly suggest saving them all for when you reach maximum skill, because having an exceptional quality crafted item adds extra bonus to final stats!
